Todd Swan - Head Coach
Todd Swan is in his third year as head coach of the Sherman track team. His background in exercise science and his love for mathematics has made him a perfect fit for leading the track program. The Sherman track athletes have experienced huge accomplishments under the mathematical approach to their training.
In Swan’s first year as coach, the team produced an alarming 9.50 personal record per athlete average for the year. For the first time in school history (according to current documentation), both the boys and girls teams finished at least second in districts in the same season.
With the performance bar raised for the following year, the team rose to the challenge by earning an impressive 11.13 personal records per athlete average for the season.
Coach Swan’s philosophy of personally improving yourself each day can be a difficult one to embrace. It is not a simple task to achieve your best one day and then push to be better the next. The athletes that push through this mental battle learn to love it. They appreciate that they no longer are compared to others and they love the challenge of competing against themselves.
This year’s team will see an impressive 24 athletes looking to test their limits on the track!
